Collection: NAMCO
NAMCO, “The Game Creator.” (Final Lap 2, Arcade Flyer, 1992) Namco was founded as an operator of coin-operated amusement rides by Masaya Nakamura on June 1, 1955, as Nakamura Seisakusho. It entered the video game industry, distributing games including Breakout, after acquiring the struggling Japanese division of Atari in 1974. The company renamed itself to Namco in 1977 and published its first original video game Gee Bee in 1978. Namco's first major hit was Galaxian in 1979. Next, it gave the world a new global pandemic fever, PAC-MAN in 1980. It quickly became the best-selling arcade game of all time! Put down the pizza, INSERT COIN, and get ready for non-stop action with Galaxian, PAC-MAN, Galaga, Rally-X, Dig Dug, Pole Position, Mappy, Splatterhouse, Rolling Thunder, and Tekken to start.
